When it comes to my dry skin, summer needs can look fairly different from my winter regimen. But, the one thing in my beauty bag that carries across all seasons is hydration. The main focus of my summer skincare is to retain moisture and tone while combatting the effects of sun exposure and sweat.

HAIR + SKINCARE
that maintains the moisture barrier
Enjoying more time outdoors bathing in the summertime sun means never skimping on hair and skin prep.

Did you know hydration is as important to your hair's health as it is for your face and body? Since I'm known to take a daily dip in the pool, I like to keep my strands nourished and happy with a few drops of Thicc Organics thicc hair oil, massaged into the scalp about an hour before a wash, and smoothed over my ends after a blowdry.

Another product I absolutely love for maintaining a healthy and smooth visage is Dermalogica daily milkfoliant exfoliator, perfect for everyday use on dry skin like mine. Its gentle exfoliation feels perfect to take the day off. And speaking of sloughing, I'm obsessed with Fenty Skin buff ryder exfoliating body scrub. With superfine sand and fruit enzymes, this scrub resurfaces for baby-like skin without ever over-exfoliating, and it smells INCREDIBLE.

The one thing in my beauty bag that carries across all seasons?
Hydration.

Next up is serum—the holy grail of skincare. I always apply while skin is freshly wet, just like my facialist taught me. First to go on under everything is The Ordinary marine hyaluronics serum, the perfect prep for full absorption and holding power of the skin's vital moisture barrier, followed by Valjean Labs hydrate hyaluronic acid + vitamin B5 facial serum for an extra hydra-boost.

If you're looking for a subtle sans-sun tan, I highly suggest Isle of Paradise medium self tanning natural glow drops for face + body, which can mixed in with any of your other daily skin treatments and lotions for a buildable glow.

Finishing treatments will depend on your goals. For everyday, I like to set the pace for skin plumping to begin with a few allover drops of Herbivore Botanicals emerald deep moisture glow oil with CBD + adaptogens on my face, and a solid slathering of Sol de Janeiro brazilian bum bum cream on my legs. For skin maintenance, I'll switch between nightly applications of Glow Recipe avocado melt retinol sleeping mask or Herbivore Botanicals aquarius pore purifying clarity cream by need.

MAKEUP
designed to beat the heat
Summertime skin sometimes means less is more.

After all my moisture prep, I dab on my new favorite lightweight foundation, Chanel vitalumiére aqua ultralight skin perfecting makeup + SPF 15. It goes on smooth with a lasting soft light finish, something I'd never expect from a foundation with SPF built in.

I rarely add more eye makeup than flicked brows and a coat of mascara in the summer, since I want to keep my look simple, dewy, and natural. All I use is a swipe of Fenty Beauty brow MVP sculpting wax pencil + styler to tame and shape, followed by Glossier boy brow grooming pomade in blond and Clinque chubby lash fattening mascara, all of which are exceptionally great for sensitive eyes, too.

Then, if I'm opting for a little touch of color, I'll dab on some Fenty Beauty cheeks out freestyle cream blush (can go on eyes, too), and a pick between Fenty Beauty icon the case semi-matte refillable lipstick in motha luva or Clinque almost lipstick in black honey for day or night.

 Give your skin some service!

must-haves to treat and protect
Daily sun protection is a MUST, no matter the season, but ESPECIALLY FOR SUMMER.

I swoop on Supergoop daily dose hydra-ceramide boost + SPF broad spectrum sunscreen oil everywhere, every day before leaving the house. And, if I happen to get burned, I like to keep my bottle of Korres greek yoghurt cooling after-sun gel for face & body on standby to cool and calm sundrenched skin.

I also don't go anywhere without protecting my eyes, and I swear by the styles of Oliver Peoples. If I'm not in my Lynes transitions, then you'll catch me wearing my Jannsson sunnies.
