IT DOES A BODY GOOD//

The bodysuit is back and ready to rev up our engines in Spring 2010's collections. But will we wear them? While a bodysuit hanging in my closet will certainly be reason to keep my fitness plan on track, I'm not exactly sure where to place it in terms of wearability. What time of day? What event? What occasion? I don't exactly see myself strolling down Union Street in my bodysuit to grab a coffee, nor do I see my outfit being accepted very well at one of the DeYoung's evening parties. Maybe to a play date for books and tea? Haha, or perhaps not. I might just end up buying into the look solely to pose and post for you guys. :o)

Totally lovable à la mode:

IT'S FALL//TIME FOR FERRAGAMOS

He and I went to see Where The Wild Things Are last night, and though I was very tempted to wear my new fur coat from Etsy, I decided upon stripes instead. I thought stripes might be animalistic in a way, and fitting enough for the occasion. I also wore my favorite vintage Ferragamos (I have three pairs so far - these are the black ones with the bows, in velvet.) I also may have decided to throw on the same outfit for work the next day (plus a light shrug) as I was just too in love with it to only wear for about three hours.

For work, for play.

His spiffy shoes next to mine!

And now, my tribute to the exurberance of childhood in Where The Wild Things Are, and to the fair beauty of black velvet bowed vintage Ferragamos.

Ah, they are of classic beauty...

DARK AND DREAMY//

Last weekend I thought it would be fun to test out some shooting at his underground garage. Basically, it rocked!! A definite place I'll keep in mind for any future shoots.

LITERATURE//THE LAST OF OUR TREASURES

Classic works of literature are among the greatest of things that I would consider to be rare yet everlasting treasures of human masterpiece. I found this edition of Dorian Gray up for sale today, and I just about flipped out. It is a First English Edition large format issue of 250 numbered copies, signed by Wilde himself and includes a handwritten note by him to his friend Lancelot penned on the title page. The binding and trim sounds beautiful, and it's selling for $35,000—YES— thirty-five-THOUSAND dollars. Oh, if only.

Find it here;

Speaking of Oscar Wilde, if you are ever in the mood for visiting, he rests now at the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. I had a lovely visit to his resting place two summers ago, and paid my tribute to the genius along with many others, by kissing his grave.

RAINY//TUESDAY

What to do when it's pouring like a faucet outside....

Strap on your favorite black boots and head into the city!

Chey and I meandered through the slick city streets to Union Square shopping. We tried on some hilarious dresses, and some very cute ones too. This here is an example of my sadness in finding a dress that looks perfect at the back but horrible from the front. I won't even include a picture of the front. In fact, I deleted it.

And of course, we did a montage with shoes.

RAINY DAY//SHOE MONTAGE

As is very necessary on rainy Tuesdays, Chey and I did a shoe montage.

LIFE IS GOOD//

The shoot on Sunday went extremely well, with many thanks to our amazing photographer Ziv, and stunning model Quinn. I was very happy with how all of my styling turned out in the shots — I wish I could insert a few teasers for you here but all photos are still in process. Even more unbelievable I got to get in on some of the shots too, and it was a blast posing beside Quinn! I promise to get some of the final shots up here for you as soon as we have all selected our favorites.

I ♥ MARC//

I am madly in love with the mind of Marc Jacobs. Marc is one of the most prominent and influential designers of our time (in at least my opinion—and thousands more.) If you have no idea who he is (and you are at all involved with the fashion world) then, for shame! You are allowed to save some face and continue reading this blog only if you at least read up on his wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Jacobs.

This photo is from his shoot promoting the Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton/Stephen Sprouse bags last year for Harper's. (The spread had a bit more to show than the photo cuts off here.)

I ♥ INDIA//

I've been spending my early waking hours scrolling through very funny Indian commercials on YouTube.

LETS PUT SOME NEUTRALS ON!!//MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

Some things are even better appreciated in motion:

MARGOT TENENBAUM//FICTITIOUS STYLE ICON

While Halloween is my favorite holiday (as most of my friends know, Christmas is my second), I often forget to plan beforehand what it is that I will be wearing to ring in the celebration. Most years I leave the decision till the last few weeks of October - maybe even just days before the festivities. This is odd to me of course since childhood beckoned me to realize my costume months before, as there was always plenty of time for preparation and decorating at our house for any major American holiday. This early instilling, now in my adulthood, has become a somewhat saddening fact in that I cannot compete with the planning so attentively laid out before me. Not this year. This year, come January, I was ready. I knew my inspiration and I took it. Margot Tenenbaum, character from my beloved first Wes Anderson film will be my look. I've been planning all year for what to buy in costuming myself. I had made my decision. Now all that is left to scribe in ink will be my plans for the night.

and now for your brief introduction to Margot Tenenbaum:
