Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is upon us! It kicked off yesterday under the New York tents at Bryant Park. So far it seems we are in for a very subtle palette this Spring. Many of Thursdays looks focused on a neutral palette - a stark contrast from the brights of last year. The recession is surely upon us, but not to worry; a paucity of pigments does not mean a stray from style.

My fav of the day: Jen Kao

My favorite part of Spring chic: comfort. Looks alone can tell you how supple this silk skirt is.

Keeping with the dropped waistlines of recession trends, the bottom half adds enough interest to keep this piece relevant and fashion-forward in the present.

I love the layering of a leather vest over an extremely tailored pieced bustier dress, and the corresponding tones enhance the edge of this look.

Open crisscross details are innovative, and a happy change; I'm always becoming frustrated with how warm my inner arms get under Spring jackets, but I cannot take them off because my shoulders have a weakness to chills.

An unexpected construction.
