CLIMB THROUGH TO THE GRASS ON THE SUNKEN HILLSIDE

As the sunlight peeked its closing eye through the windows of the old fort nestled on the hillside overlooking the bridge, it touched the lush wild grasses where tomorrow morning would be frost.
Feeling the bite of pins on our noses, we wondered how one could have spent months camped out here in its day of fully operational.
The chill here is a constant during the winter, since the fort sits near the peak of the cliffs standing stolid above the sea... the ocean pours its cold across the span of the bridge and then pushes the chill upwards from the rocky beach, blanketing the entire area in salty winds.
The drafts go through you to touch your bones, and your hands become skeletal, like fleshless contraptions made of ice.
This would explain the high ratio of fireplaces to tiny spaces here, I would imagine that even the smallest room when lit with fire still would be encapsulated in cold.
Still, it would have been a sight to see the orphaned fort when it was in function. All of San Francisco would have been a bustling thing to witness; romantic, mysterious and eerie alike.

GR.DANO

A sincerely fantastic night at gr.dano's spring 2011 preview party! There were racks of their beautiful garments to finger through... (each piece is a work of art in fabric) and as I pressed my lips to be sure no smidge of drool would embarrass me, I had a wonderful daydream that this entire collection was sitting majestically at home in my closet.
I fell in love with a trenchcoat from the current autumn/winter designs... well, as in love as one may appropriately be with an article of clothing... it is captivating and chic, water-repellant and dashing, and it exudes a sense of strong feminine with its cut and the reflection of delicate light.
The crowd was as warm and inviting as the space itself indeed... meandering through delightful conversations with Christina of profreshstyle, Michelle of fvncy, Adelle of fashionistalabsanfrancisco, Nikki of stylebust, Mignon of thechicspy, and of course talking about the brand with the designers; Jill Giordano and Brian Scheyer, and catching up with their talented extended team members Shaneia and Zenia.

I love nights like this when the vibe is so chill you want to just throw a sleepover and camp out in the venue till coffee and bagels at dawn. Amazing garments mixed with good conversation and others fashionably interested is always inspiring.

TURKEY MEAT

Dressing for the day of Thanksgiving with the family; wearing my favorite goldenrod-shaded snood I hand knit myself, a glistening reindeer across my chest, vintage faux fur à la Margot Tenenbaum, and my new kicks. I'm really loving these suede leggings, they feel so warm against naked winter legs. I've been wearing this locket around forever, it's turned into a rose-colored tarnish rather than its original brass, but I sort of like it that way. I do have a new vintage locket piece from a recent etsy purchase, but while I'm still looking for the right chain, I will continue wearing this one here. Again, a lovely day to be thankful for the crisp air chilled in my lungs, the brains in my head, and the people in my heart. The turkey was pretty amazing too!

Happy Holidays!

MANY HAPPY WISHES AND THANK YOUS

If you do one thing today, wake up and thank the universe. Let those you love know beyond the pale of a doubt that you love them, hug and kiss those you need in your life while you are with them, and learn all you can from those you only have a little time with.
I am thankful to the universe for putting me on this earth and giving me what I have; my loved ones that bring joy and substance to my life, the air that I breathe, and the brains in my head.

And of course, a special thank you to you out there, whoever you are, that you enjoy taking time in your day to come here and hang out in the space of my thoughts.

JETLAG DESIGNER CHIC @ THE CLIFT

Possibly the greatest party of my year, JETLAG::Designer Chic was held in The Redwood Room of The Clift Hotel this past Thursday evening. The crowd was as glamourous as always, studded by jet-setters from around the globe, media consorts, models, and the like. We enjoyed the entertainment by NKECHI, who serenaded us live from the runway, a fashion show by G-Star, and music by DJ Nader, DJ Playdoughboy, and DJ Huggie. There was also fabulous photobooth with cameraman Gene Kosoy, and deliriously enticing drinks at the bar. Of course, my date and I had to take full advantage of one of the highlights of this venue by having our picture taken perched atop the giant chair. I was also quite enamored with velvet settee in front of the crackling fire. I highly recommend you follow Trendylime now, as well as all other media partners, as we will let you in on the next top event. And here's to hoping that we see the gorgeous founder of Trendylime, Liana Burtsava, walking like it's hot in more of the fashion shows!
Please enjoy the fabulous ensemble of the night's images:

THIS ONE'S FOR THE WEIRDOS LIKE ME

Feeling like Clark Kent in ginormous frames and silly tights, and calling upon my inner dork.
Isn't it funny that we grow up being teased as kids for dressing in any way strangely? I sincerely loved wearing things when I was little that made me look a bit wacko and often anticipated the awkward attention I'd get with a tinge of excitement. "What will they think today of my baggy maroon velvet pants and oversized polka dot top?" I'd say to myself with glee... walking up the path from the lower parking lot of the church, ducking by the overbearing brick stairway of the principal's office, and skipping past the flagpole to get in line for morning prayers. Of course, this was only once a month that I was able to express my fashionable creativity, as the rest of the school year I was stuffed into an ugly burgundy and slate gray jumper with button down dress blouse and itchy sweater. Come to think of it, the blouse was not so bad; it had a cute rounded collar and I liked the cool feeling of the lightweight breathable cotton. The sweater would've been fine too - if it hadn't made my delicate skin lash out in an angered roar of bright red. I'd just like to say that half the reason I may have seemed not to be paying the best of attention during morning prayers can be attributed to the itchiness of that sweater, and not entirely to my attention deficit motioning my eyes over to the much more intriguing butterfly, squirrel, or crow perched atop the school roof. And I was very good at standing in line on time before the last bell would ring, for good measure.

very much out of grade school, but still giggling at butterflies.

THREE THINGS TO LIKE//MATTHEW TROY MULLINS; LIFE INTERPRETER

"VHS Tape Collection, South Pole"
I have always held a passionate admiration for people who can manipulate watercolor paints to do their bidding. If you would like to be awestruck by real-life stills frozen in time by the touch of artful refinement, check out the work of Matt Mullins. I've been a fan of his since college, where I was lucky to have come in close contact with the monochromatic radio dishes and bright yellow acrylic interiors of his first series. Now Matt has moved into watercolor, and keyed his creative eye in on bringing the essence of society and its objects to life. I find a calming enjoyment in his blissful detailing of things that go on too often unseen.
